A collection of client provided diamonds, creativity, imagination, and the inspiration of an effervescent and romantic couple conspired to bring this unique engagement ring to life.
In the world of custom jewellery the creative intelligence that makes both the design and the finished product possible will be accounted for, or reflected, in the price. And, in all likelihood, that price will be (and should be) in direct proportion to the talent and ability of the designer.
If our culture(s) are to survive then human effort, time, and creativity must be rewarded regardless of where on earth or in what industry they take place. The moment we assign little or much worse NO value to this aspect of commerce is the moment everything begins to crumble.
Think about it. If the only value we give something is the cost of it’s materials alone, with no prevision being made for the human effort and creativity, then there is no reward for human effort and creativity. If there is no reward for these things than why would anyone exercise their use? Where will we be without them?
The Suture Ring.
You learn something new every day … you should anyway!
Today, I learned how to tie suture knots. Amazing what you can learn on YouTube isn’t it?
Notice too how the stitches can be seen in the reflection inside the ring.
I love what I do!
Every day it’s something different. Sometimes … it’s really different!
Like this suture ring for example. Pictured here it is awaiting the stitches. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on some actual silk suture thread (thank you so much Dr. S!).
This ring was commissioned by one of my coolest clients. You know when you meet someone and it feels like you’ve know them your whole life? Or, you are ceratin you knew them before? … Him.
I’ll be posting images of the finished piece shortly!
