Perhaps because it takes me back to that moment in my life when Christmas was most special. I re-live the feelings of wonderment, security, and love every time I hear it.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
To those who do not celebrate I wish you love, happiness, and safety during this special time of year.
Our Vintage and Estate Jewellery is not the only thing that dazzles here at JRJ! Beautiful collections comprised of pieces like this sleek, organic, sterling silver necklace are also available for purchase.
Jeffrey Ross Jewellery has received a grant from the National Research Council’s Industrial Research Assistance Program for our “innovative process of silver jewellery design and manufacturing”! Check out this article in our local paper:
I have the most wonderful clients! One of them discovered I had recently had a child knit this beautiful little hat and sweater! Thank you so very much to Stella, I am so very grateful for your kind gesture and for having chosen Jeffrey Ross Jewellery for your jewellery needs. It has been a great pleasure serving you!
Here at JRJ Ltd. we are regularly presented with pieces that need remodeling. It is always a thrill to bring dated jewellery a breath of new life; or perhaps, to completely rework a piece and create something entirely new through combining gems from various other old pieces - like the ring featured above!
If you missed the opening reception for our 2011 Vintage and Estate Collection, don’t worry, it will be on display and available for purchase until Christmas! In the meantime, please enjoy this video showcasing the beautiful 2011 Vintage and Estate Collection on jeffreyrossjewellery.com.
Please enjoy this short video slide show. There’s a great image of our location in the historic Tin Mill of Uxbridge. And, a fabulous collection of custom made fine jewellery.
Let us know what you think!
I could learn a thing or two here. Apparently enrollment will open Nov 15th and classes start Feb 2012.
If I had the spare time in Feb I know I’d be there!
This is breathtaking! Produced by Christie’s this video tells a tail of a remarkable woman and a remarkable collection. Thanks to Reena Ahluwalia for sharing it with me. It is an inspiration!
Dear Jeffrey:
I wanted to tell you how much I love the job you did on my engagement ring. It looks just as I had hoped, and how I had wanted it to look in the first place. It is beautiful, elegant and refined………it looks incredibly sparkly too!
Thank you so much for making me feel comfortable enough to bring up my “problem” to you…you did amazing magic.
What an exciting birthday present!
Sincere thanks,
J.Z.
p.s both rings fit just right
This was an email I received from a client recently after completing a ring re-model. She came to me with a ring, that had been made by someone else, which she was very unhappy with. After uncovering the source of her unhappiness we could move forward toward a solution that met her needs.
Engagement rings have such tremendous emotional significance because they are a symbol of a couples relationship. Your input and ideas are of major importance in the design of your engagement ring. It is your designers responsibility to bring those ideas together in one unified concept that meets your needs.
However, a design alone is of no great importance, or significance, without proper execution. You must have confidence in your designers ability to design AND his/her ability to translate that design into a flawless finished product.
It was a great pleasure and an honour to set things right with her ring and restore her love for it. Recieving this email was the icing on the cake!
Symmetry!
Our brains are remarkable instruments. We may not have a conscious awareness of precisely what is “wrong” when we see something out of place but we know something is.
In this piece I have juxtaposed the asymmetry of the ring with the impeccable symmetry of the gem. Cut by renowned lapidary Wobito gems this Morganite is the very definition of symmetry.
How does this juxtaposition make you feel? Would you have felt differently had I not mentioned it?
Can you tell which of these pieces was made c1920?
I sold one of these pieces a while back. It was part of a vintage collection we hosted and was made in the 1920’s. Platinum and diamond.
I designed and made the other piece recently to completethe“set”. We even procured and had the diamond(s) re-cut to match the transitional European cut of the original piece.
Can you guess which one is which?
“He who aims at nothing hits it with remarkable accuracy” - Michael Lee-Chin
I made this set (belt buckle and cufflinks) years ago. Around the same time I first heard the above quote. Hand made in sterling silver they were set with working compasses.
I am currently navigating my way through a transition and was struck by how this image caught me off guard. Back when I made this set my path forward seemed so clear. Now, I know very clearly where I want to go … but, I am struggling to understand how to get there from here. However, And yet, I know that it is not the getting there that matters. It is who we become in trying to get there that really counts.
This is a rectangular, emerald cut, pink tourmaline set in a white gold ring with princes cut diamonds on the shoulders. I was commissioned, by the parents of a fabulous young lady, to make this ring as a graduation gift for their princess.
Curious about the cut of the centre stone? We call it “emerald cut” because this style of cutting was developed for emeralds. Emeralds are rather fragile. During setting it is easy to chip, crack, or completely break a corner.
Remember the K.I.S.S. principle? Keep It Simple Stupid! That’s what happened here. In order to eliminate the risk of breaking a corner when setting a square or rectangular emerald … gem cutters simply removed the corners and the emerald cut was born!
Jeffrey’s life long passion for rare, unique, and exquisite coloured gems and diamonds conspire with his classical design sensibility and contemporary aesthetic to bring his exquisite creations to life.
His jewellery is often imbibed with the same decadence and romance that emanates from his charming personality. His rugged good looks? … they’re the icing on the cake!
